Celebrating Black Excellence: Prosperity Market’s 5th Annual Black Business Scavenger Hunt Returns to LA
In a city rich with culture and creative brilliance, Prosperity Market is once again putting Black-owned businesses on the map—literally.
Back for its 5th consecutive year, the Black Business Scavenger Hunt kicks off August 1–24, honoring Black Business Month by spotlighting more than 100 Black-owned restaurants, shops, wellness brands, and creative spaces throughout Los Angeles. The experience leads Angelenos on a journey of cultural connection and community support—all while competing for prizes and discovering some of the city's most dynamic Black-owned gems.
Created by Prosperity Market founders Carmen Dianne and Kara Still, the Scavenger Hunt is more than a fun citywide game—it’s a mission-driven movement. At its core is a custom-designed, interactive treasure map that guides participants through LA’s diverse neighborhoods to visit businesses across food, fashion, wellness, art, education, and more. The goal? Celebrate community, circulate dollars, and create access to Black-owned brilliance.
✨ A Journey Rooted in Purpose
Prosperity Market began during the pandemic as a mobile farmers market focused on uplifting Black farmers and entrepreneurs. Now, five years later, it has evolved into a multi-layered initiative that hosts pop-ups, markets, and experiences that empower Black business owners and make it easier for the community to discover and support them.
This year’s scavenger hunt is especially meaningful as it leads up to the highly anticipated launch of Prosperity Market’s mobile trailer in early 2026—a literal vehicle for visibility and accessibility.
“The Scavenger Hunt has allowed us to expand our reach beyond food, connecting people to Black excellence in every category,” says co-founder Carmen Dianne.
“Each year, we’ve watched the movement grow—more businesses, more players, and a wider impact,” adds Kara Still. “It’s a celebration of progress and community power.”
